15 Month Check-Up & Cake Decorating

On Tuesday morning (July 14) Kaleb had his 15 month check-up. He weighed in at 20 pounds and 14 ounces and is now 30 inches (and 3/4!) . He is now half of his mother's height. (Wow!)

He had to get some vaccines but first Dr. Martin did his check-up. He is doing great with development and got checked (by Mom filling out a questionnaire) for Autism and passed. When Dr. Martin was checking his throat/teeth Kaleb had a little fit, which caused Dr. Martin to go a little too far in, and what do you know..Mom got Goldfish thrown up all over her arm! (Oh, don't worry..it went lovely with the blood on my shirt from his ouchie when he fell outside earlier in the morning!) The vaccines are horrible because I hate seeing him cry like that. Especially when I go alone, and I am there to comfort him and I know he needs Daddy too.

All in all it was okay though. I am just grateful to have a happy and healthy growing boy!

In other news..

Tonight I started my 3 week (once a week) class in Cake Decorating. It was awesome! It was much harder than expected, but totally worth it. I am taking the class so hopefully from here on out I can make Kaleb's birthday cakes. I always wanted to be that mom that made the Halloween cupcakes, or the Christmas cookies..that everyone envied. Hopefully this will help get me there! Next week I have to bring my cake already iced and all my icing, so doing that at home will probably be a lot more relaxing than doing it with the teacher sitting there watching my every (shaking) move! Today I told her I tend to have anxiety issues, because I was shaking while I was doing my stars..she then asks me if I am going to have a panic attack in class?! Um, no. I was just informing you that was the reason behind my shaking! And she speaks spanish to me. Yes, to me. Do I look like I speak spanish? Pretty sure I don't. She also asked me if I was a vegetarian because apparently my flower looked like an artichoke. Ladies and gentleman, we have a comedian on our hands.

Next week we are making a cake with polka dots around the side and 2 clowns sitting on top! Like doing full bodies! How the HECK am I supposed to go from zigzag one week to a freaking clown body the next?! We'll see..

Here is a picture of my finished product. I was pretty proud, and Roland really liked it, so that made me even happier! I can't wait to show Kaleb in the morning. Cake for breakfast, anyone? (totally kidding...kind of..okay, yes!) These boys better like cake because they have this one, and 2 more coming!

Tomorrow is our Monday (how nice since everyone else is finishing up their work week) and I think Roland is going to work a double shift, so it will just be Buggie, Mommy & the cake tomorrow. I have some things around the house I need to get done, and I am reading My Sister's Keeper (just started it, 50 pages in) so that's what I will be up to. I am also going to make homemade chicken noodle soup. Yes, I know it is 105 degrees outside..but we will be inside..where it is a cool 76, and chicken noodle soup sounds awesome!

I am looking for some work from home opportunities to bring in a little extra income, so if anyone knows of anything, please let me know!

Tonight, I leave you with a quote..
"A cake is a very good test of an oven: if it browns too much on one side and not on the other, it's not your fault - you need to have your oven checked."
