Life Lately

There are possibly a million things going on with us right now.  It's beyond overwhelming.

First off, I am going to be starting my third trimester on Wednesday.  I can't believe how fast it's come.  I did get a couple of things scratched off my "to-do" list, so I am a little comforted by that.  The only "big" items that are a MUST to get before she gets here is her mattress and her full sized swing.  I might be able to get her mattress at the end of this week, so we'll see.

Oh, here comes the kicker.  Roland was laid off from his job.  His last day of work is June 27th.  We are in shock, disbelief, just completely side-swiped by it.  So now my days consist of figuring out health insurance (because a pregnant woman kind of needs it!), applying him for jobs, and trying to figure out just what the heck we are going to do.  We are trying to stay positive.  The County applied him for a couple of jobs he could transfer into, but any of them would mean a huge pay-cut.  There are a couple other counties not too far away hiring for various jobs, and were getting him applied for those.  The only problem with those jobs is how long they take to get.  His Fresno County job took 8 months, and when we applied him for California Dept. of Corrections, it took over a year to get a job offer (that was 8 hours away and part-time with no benefits, hence why we turned it down).  So, you get the point?  Our last option is for him to stay on part-time (no benefits) at his current campus.  Forty hours would not be guaranteed every week, and he would take an $6/hour pay-cut.  Needless to say, we have a lot of decisions to make in the coming weeks.

I am also helping plan my baby shower for Gracie.  Were about four weeks out from that, and the invitations are going out today.  Hopefully everything gets worked out for that!

Thankfully, we have been blessed to be surrounded by amazing people.  Things will get figured out, and this surely won't kill us, so were planning on it making us very much stronger, as a couple and as a family.  Please, keep us in your prayers!
