The day I have been waiting for..
Finally came today. As many of you may (or may not) know, Kaleb has given his Daddy a hard time these last five months. No matter how much Roland tried, Kaleb wouldn't let him hold him or play with him, much less look at him, unless I was sitting right there...and sometimes not even then! It has been hard on our little family, but we were understanding because we knew it had to do with Kaleb not feeling well. Well, Roland has been home a lot lately. He has had some days off and today was our Sunday..and let me tell you, it was the BEST weekend we have had...in FOREVER! I think Kaleb finally realizes that with Daddy he is just as safe as with Mommy, and we have been playing constantly. The look on Roland and Kaleb's faces when they are playing together is enough to make me cry. I love both my boys so much, and I know one day they will have a bond like no other, and this is just the beginning. I have been so lucky because Kaleb is so used to me that we play all the time...but I know Roland wanted that so bad. Now our days are amazing because we can do so much more knowing Kaleb is going to be fine with either one of us. I think Kaleb is also starting to feel better overall, and that is helping the situation.
An update on Kaleb's health is he is still on the soy formula, and it really seems to be doing some good. His rash is getting better, but it's still too early to make any judgments because it seems to get better, and then get worse again. But when I was applying the medication at bed time tonight his back was so smooth and didn't have the normal roughness that is usually there...so here's hoping! His head still has the rash, but that is my next task after his back gets better. I think I will try this medicine on his head too, because the doctor said it might work..but it's too much to do all at one time.
Saturday Kaleb will be five months old. It is so crazy to think he is almost half of a year old, but he is still our little baby. He is developing so much, and is so smart! We got him some six month toys because the 3 month ones were boring him. He has a new play mat that he likes more than the other one, which is a plus. He has also discovered that his feet are awesome toys...and apparently they are pretty tasty as well!
Halloween is just around the corner, and we pretty much have decided what he is going to dress up as..stay tuned for that one...it's a do-sie!
We are starting to eat more food. He had peaches for the first time yesterday and again today. The peaches are the first food we have given him that he is unsure about. His schedule right now is cereal in the morning, fruit for lunch, and a veggie for dinner. And a million (I'm not joking) bottles in between. Roland wants to call the doctor because this baby has GOT to have a tapeworm or something! (Just kidding!) I swear, he is the hungriest little thing I have ever seen though. When he wakes up from his afternoon nap he eats CONSTANTLY until bed time.
Well, I better get off to bed. Tomorrow our week starts again, and it will be a hectic one. Please keep our family in your prayers that all keeps headed in the direction it is going!
xoxo
till next time..
